Edinburgh Muslims, Christians To Find Common Ground
The conference will be held through the ‘Breaking Barriers’ initiative, which helps organise regular meetings between young Christians and young Muslims who share thoughts and ideas on a wide range of topics.
Breaking Barriers has successfully run for longer than a year and has been going from strength to strength.
The group spends meetings exploring belief and practice, reflecting on Scripture, breaking beyond common stereotypes and finding common ground amongst people of faith.
“The willingness of both Muslims and Christians to listen and learn from one another was wonderful,” said one Christian delegate.
A different discussion topic is decided before each meeting and meetings are set in a casual environment for people to talk and discuss.
A Muslim delegate said: “This was one of the most inspiring things I have experienced in a long, long time. I learned a lot, and realised how much I still have to learn.”
The EIFA has host various events in the past including a Holocaust Memorial Day Event, and every August, EIFA partners with its local church to deliver a three week long Festival for Spirituality and Peace.
Also expected to take part in the upcoming conference will be campaigns officer Mohammad Zaman from MADE In Europe, who will be delivering a session on promoting eco-friendly practices in Muslim communities.
