The Rochester Muslim Community Circle (RMCC) held its first annual summit, themed “Defining Ourselves: Reflections on Leadership & Activism” seeking to teach leadership skills and promote community engagement amongst women in the community.

The educational topics have included leadership empowerment, civil rights advocacy, community involvement and activism, civic engagement, and many others.

Speakers at the event included: Vice-President of Marketing and Philanthropy at the Olmsted Medical Center (OMC) Stacey Vanden Heuvel; CAIR-MN Executive Director Lori Saroya; public health nurse Nasra H. Giama; and community organizer, Hindia Ali.

The RMCC is a non-profit organisation run and supported mostly by volunteers that helps to meet the educational, religious and social needs of Muslims living in and around Rochester, MN.

The Circle has put on various positive events in the past, including interfaith brunches and recycling events for the community.
