Muslims To Lead Global Peace Convention In Dubai

April 6, 2012 in News with 0 Comments

The Dubai International Peace Convention (DIPC) was last hosted in 2010, and attracted more than 150,000 attendees. The upcoming convention is back, and is expected to attract more. Renowned Islamic scholars and speakers will aim to bridge divides, promote peace, interfaith dialogue and tolerance.

The aims of the convention are to honour those who contributed in the maintenance of world peace, development stability in the world, encourage initiative in global peacekeeping and promote dialogue between all religions.

The convention will feature various Islamic scholars and speakers (even from Peace TV), such as Dr. Zakir Naik, founder and president of the India-based Islamic Research Foundation (IRF), Yusuf Estes, Hussain Ye and Sheikh Mishary Al Afasy.

A ‘Peace March’ will also be held prior to the convention to raise awareness about the event.

This is not the first time a peace conference has been held by Muslims. But last year, we saw a conference hosted by Islamic scholar Dr. Tahir ul-Qadri, which gained critical media attention.

Nice to see Muslims condemning violence and extremism and spreading peace on a more mainstream and wider scale. I fully support this cause. Religion may divide us, but peace and unity unites us
