One Billion Salawats Upon Muhammad Day
An Islamic initiative, aims to unite hearts around the world by sending more than one billion salutations to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the Last and Final Messenger in Islam.
Salawats are special salutations that aim to send peace and blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). They are not confined to a particular place and can be recited anywhere.
One billion of these salutations will be sent collectively on November 4 2012.
The Lovers Of Muhammad initiative hence, encourages all Muslims to gather in their mosques, centres and homes for the Maghrib prayers (evening prayers) and then to individually or collectively recite 2,000 Salawats on the Prophet (PBUH) using this formula:
اللّهُمّ صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ
Allahumma Salli ‘Alaa Muhammad
(O Allah! Bless Muhammad)
More than 1200 pledges have been made so far and more than 8,000,000 salawats are to be recited already.
The event is supported by groups such as the Zaytuna College, United For Change and Celebrate Mercy.
You are also urged to join in. Sign the pledge via the website below.
